Hi there, I am Lori Girton! I’m thrilled to share my passion for reading education with you. As a dedicated literacy instructor, I specialize in enhancing phonics skills for young learners from preschool through middle school ages. Through my classes, I provide focused support and enrichment, all grounded in evidence-based practices tailored to each student’s unique needs.

With over two decades of experience, I've held roles as a Reading Intervention Teacher, Special Education Teacher, and Literacy Coach. I’ve taught Kindergarten through Eighth grade, guiding struggling readers toward academic success with effective, research-backed strategies.

In my teaching, I embrace the Orton-Gillingham method, using multi-sensory, sequential phonics instruction. My focus on phonemic awareness helps students understand and manipulate the sounds in words, building strong foundations through direct instruction, guided practice, and independent work. My goal is to foster resilience and confidence in every student, equipping them with the skills they need to succeed.

Outside of teaching, I enjoy reading books of all genres and following sports. I’m always eager to learn new skills—recently, I’ve taken up crocheting, a fun and rewarding challenge that’s kept me busy!
